Netflix has recently responded to various rumors related to the South Korean zombie series ‘Kingdom’ that was circulating some time ago.
On July 20, 2020, Korean media outlet Munhwa Ilbo said ‘Kingdom’ would soon launch an advanced series from the previous season, with the appearance of Jun Ji Hyun which surprised the audience at the end of the episode.
It is said that the story will focus on Jun Ji Hyun, a character named Ah Shin, and how he became a fighter. Leaks from inside the ‘Kingdom’ say that next season will be directed by director Kim Sung Hoon.
"It is difficult for the main actors from the first two seasons of 'Kingdom' to start filming for the third season due to schedule conflicts, so the continuation of their story after the second season may come in two or three years," said one of the sources to Munhwa Ilbo.
He also said, "We will first bring a prequel story, in which Jun Ji Hyun will join the cast of characters who are almost entirely new."
Different reports re-emerged and were reported through the Star-News media outlet, where sources claimed that the prequel would be a short film with a duration of about 70 minutes and was in the final stages of discussion. It is also mentioned that filming for the pre-film film is planned to start next October.
Responding to various prequel film issues for Jun Ji Hyun's character, Netflix opened up, clarifying, "No one has yet decided on plans for the future 'Kingdom'. There is nothing we can confirm to date, including the lead actor, screenwriter, or director. It has not even been decided whether there will be a prequel or not. ”
